New: AI-assisted heat pump system with sustainable energy management
A new heat pump system has been commissioned in our office and workshop building and fully integrated into our building automation system. The system combines Home Assistant with Siemens PLC controls and a custom-developed AI agent that continuously optimizes heating curves and setpoint temperatures. Surplus energy from the photovoltaic system is automatically allocated to the heat pump and the EV charging infrastructure as needed. The system can be monitored and controlled through a Home Assistant dashboard, both on site and remotely.
As part of the project, the existing chilled-water cassette units were also retrofitted. The heat pump system uses R-290 (propane), a natural refrigerant with an ultra-low global warming potential (GWP). Its climate impact is significantly lower than that of many conventional HVAC refrigerants, which often have GWP values in the hundreds or even above 2,000. This allows the new system to make a measurable contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency.
