In 2015, ADITOR was awarded the contract to equip the largest German DHL transshipment centre in Obertshausen with a new safety control system. In the 37,000 m² hall, twelve controllers were coupled to the main controller via fibre-optic cables. ADITOR used a Pilz safety controller PSS 4000 for this purpose. The special feature: in collaboration with the safety experts of Deutschmann Safety, ADITOR developed an innovative solution for DHL that goes far beyond the skilful connection of a safety controller. A unique zone concept ensures that, in an emergency, only the workstations of the emergency stop zone and in the directly adjacent zones are switched off. Complete standstills are largely superfluous thanks to this clever solution. The zone concept was first implemented in Obertshausen and its advantages are obvious. Therefore, ADITOR was also commissioned to implement it in a DHL centre in Bremen. Other DHL locations are still to be converted to the new system.
